The Pharisees asked Jesus, “What is the greatest commandment?” Jesus responds, “Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind (Deut 6:5). This is the first and greatest commandment. And the second is like it: Love your neighbor as yourself.”
The Lord’s uses this opportunity to cast a vision of divine and earthly love upon his people. Then the teachers of the law asked, “Who is my neighbor?” Little did they know they were inviting our Lord to open up a big can of worms. Jesus’ answers their question with a most unexpected parable. They were not prepared for the truth.
In this series we will ask Jesus the same question, “Who is my neighbor?” We must also prepare our hearts, souls and minds to apply his truth and his love to our lives.
