The Problem of Jesus

Passage: Acts 4:1-22

In Acts 4:1–22, Peter and John are arrested for proclaiming that Jesus has risen and healed a crippled man, confronting the authorities with the claim that salvation is found in Jesus alone. This exclusive claim – “no other name” – offends both ancient and modern audiences, yet it stands at the center of Christian faith. The reality is everyone holds exclusive truth claims; the real question is whether those claims are true, and whether they produce lives of genuine compassion and inclusion. Jesus stands uniquely apart from every other religious figure in what he said, what he did, and the kind of salvation he offers – not an escape from the world, but its full restoration.
