Envy
Envy is one of the few sins that offers no compensating pleasure at all. Envy is the deep sadness, anger, bitterness one feels when comparing oneself to a near rival; the intense feeling of inferiority resulting in an “I am not enough” syndrome. Our identity in Jesus Christ, the beloved of God, counters this narrative. As brothers and sisters of Jesus, adopted into the family of God, we are instead, invited into a relationship of wholeness, love, and security – freed from competition and comparison because we are enough through Jesus Christ, our Lord.
