Disappointment and Hope

Passage: Luke 1:5-25

Zechariah and Elizabeth have lived a life of relentless disappointment. They have waited decades to have a child and they are now old and have given up hope. When an angel announces to Zechariah that Elizabeth is going to get pregnant, he cannot believe it. He’s afraid to get his hopes up. He does not want to be disappointed again. Are you longing for something good to happen and still waiting? What happens when our disappointment turns into darkness? Advent is a season of waiting for the ‘good’ to appear. What might God be saying to us in our time of waiting?
