Mary Full of Grace: Fear and Faith at the Annunciation
Mary’s fear is different from that of Zachariah’s, and it has different consequences. She is given grace from God first, and that follows with a task of immense proportions. Mary’s trust and surrender in the face of daunting fear is a model of the beginning of the spiritual life of all Christians, and it turns our focus from our own inadequacy and uncertainty and onto God’s unwavering and completely assured unfolding plan of restoration of all things in Jesus Christ.
